Transition of Jon
R. Baermann, P.C. Law Practice to Huck Bouma P.C.
Dear
Client's and Friend's:
Thank you for your patronage over the years and
for your support of my practice.
It has truly been a pleasure serving you and sharing in your successes
and challenges.
Over the past 9 years I have been engaged in
private practice serving individuals, corporations and not for profit
organizations. In the past few months a significant opportunity to serve as
corporate counsel at a company providing compliance software in the financial
services industry has been offered to me by a longtime business associate and I
am accepting the offer. My new
position will require that I relocate to Grand Rapids, Michigan. The result is that I will be closing my
private practice here in Illinois effective June 17, 2011.
The
well being of my clients is my highest priority with respect to my career
transition. I have thought long
and hard about the best way to advise my clients on how to satisfy their legal
needs following the termination of my practice. I am recommending to all of my clients that they transition
their legal matters to the law firm Huck Bouma P.C. located in Wheaton,
Illinois. In particular, I have
been in close contact with David D. O’Sullivan, a partner at Huck Bouma P.C.,
over the last several weeks with respect to the transition of my practice. Mr. O’Sullivan and Huck Bouma P.C.
welcome the opportunity to serve my clients in the future.
Huck
Bouma P.C. is a full service law firm located in Wheaton, Illinois. Its main practice areas are corporate
transactions, real estate, estate planning and litigation. Within those subgroups, it also has
expertise in banking transactions (representing both borrowers and various
banking institutions), family law and employment law. Its corporate practice focuses on entity formation,
commercial contracts of any and all types (including, without limitation,
employment agreements, shareholder agreements, operating agreements and
technology agreements) and mergers and acquisitions.
With
respect to its representation of individuals, Huck Bouma P.C. has one of the
largest estate planning departments outside of downtown Chicago. In short, I have no doubt that Huck
Bouma P.C. can service the needs of my clients in an outstanding manner
following my transition.
Certainly, I would be more than happy to facilitate a meeting or a
conference call between yourself and Mr. O’Sullivan to discuss Huck Bouma P.C.
in further detail.
If you were an estate planning client of mine
for whom I created a living or revocable trust, I encourage you to please read
the attached funding information letter to make sure that your assets,
especially any qualified plans, have been properly addressed. I will be
available to assist you with any questions you may have regarding your estate
plans through the end of June; I may be reached via email at
jbaermann@gmail.com. After then,
Mr. O’Sullivan and the estate planning group of Huck Bouma P.C. are more than
capable and are interested in assisting you. You may also be interested to know that their pricing for
such services is very comparable to the pricing of services at my practice.
I
would like your permission to transfer all of your file materials to Mr.
O’Sullivan at Huck Bouma P.C.
However, I need your written consent to do so and ask that you provide
such consent by counter-signing this letter where indicated below. Of course, please understand that you
are under no legal obligation to allow for the transfer of your file materials
to Huck Bouma P.C. and you have every right to retain alternative legal counsel
or take possession of your file materials yourself. Consistent with Illinois Supreme Court Rule 1.17, if you do
not provide consent to the transfer of your file materials to Huck Bouma P.C.
or otherwise object to the same within ninety (90) days of receipt of this
notice, I will assume that you consent to the transfer of your client files and
will, in fact, transfer your client files to Huck Bouma P.C.
I
expect that many of my clients will have questions about my decision and about
my recommendation of the law firm Huck Bouma P.C. I welcome any and all questions and comments you may have
following your review of this letter.
I also welcome the opportunity to introduce you to Mr. O’Sullivan and to
assist in the transition of your legal matters to Mr. O’Sullivan if you so
choose.
In
His service and yours,
Jon
R. Baermann, P.C.
